Massive turnout in inner London fails to stem Tory tide

In the mayoral election, voters in Islington North turned out at levels normally only expected in a general election, according to party workers.
In the North East constituency, Ken Livingstone took 49% of first preference votes against 29% for Boris. Jenette Arnold's share of the vote was up by 10%.
