About Us

Islington North Constituency Labour Party is a local organization of the Labour Party. We campaign to promote Labour candidates and Labour policies in our local area and beyond.

We are very proud that Islington North is represented in parliament by Jeremy Corbyn, our MP, and we support our members of the European Parliament, the London Assembly, and Islington Council.

Members of the Party are also able to campaign for policies and people within the Labour Party, for example voting for members of the Labour Party National Executive Committee.

How the Party represents its members

Islington North Constituency Labour Party is a democratic organisation whose policies are set by its members. Party officers are accountable to the members through regular meetings attended by delegates. Delegates can come from Labour Party Branches, Affiliated Trades Unions or other Affilliated Organizations such as the Fabian Society or the Socialist Medical Association. In Islington North (as in most constituencies) our Labour Party Branches follow geographical boundaries aligned with the council electoral wards. You can find out more about wards on the Islington Council page.

Most members join the Labour Party as members of their local Branch or Ward. Branches hold regular monthly meetings to discuss policy and hear reports from their delegates. You can find out about Party delegates and Branches on our Contacts page.

If you live in Islington North and join the party through the Labour Party's national head office - for example through the web site - or if you are already a member, move into the area and inform the Party of your change of address - then your local Branch or Ward should be informed, and you should begin to receive invitations to your local meetings.

However, you may find it quicker to contact us directly through this web site.
